B.A (Hons) in English (Major in Literature or Major in Linguistics)
* This eight semester program usually offers BA (Bachelor of Arts) degree with Honors.
Students having satisfactorily passed the higher secondary or other equivalent examinations are usually eligible to enroll in this course.
After successful completion of the course, students can compete in any desired field.
* This graduation course offers diverse opportunities to successful students in any available (except the fields that require the science background) disciplines in and outside the country.
Department of English Language and Literature (DELL)
B.A (Hons) in English (Major in Literature or Major in Linguistics)
The Department started its programs in January 2003. At present, a 4-year Honors Course in Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons) is offered along with M.A. in English.
The requirements for B.A Honors Degree are to successfully complete 130 credits in 8 semesters. Courses are of 2-3 credits. Each course is conducted through interactive class lectures, group discussions, seminars, several class tests, quizzes, projects, assignments, one viva-voce test, one mid-term test, and one final test.
The Syllabus:
The syllabus is designed with utmost care and aims at simultaneously improving the language skills of the students and deepening their knowledge in English Literature. The phrase "English Literature" is used in an expansive sense, and it includes American Literature as well as literatures produced in English all over the world. This syllabus consists of courses on mainstream English Literature from the Old English to late 20th Century, American Literature, and some useful components from pre- and post- colonial periods.
