Department of English Language and Literature (DELL) is one of the largest departments in the country with more than 1,000 (currently enrolled) students. From (its) inception back in 2002, DELL has been operating  successfully, delivering  high quality academic services to the student community. To achieve a higher benchmark in education and research, the department regularly organises seminars, conferences, and critical studies on literacy texts. DELL also regularly stages plays, holds sessions on book reading, engages students in cultural activities. Since 2002, DELL organised over 100) xé seminars. 

The faculty pool of DELL is one of the most experienced with many of the teachers with foreign degrees and higher educational engagements. The individual faculty members have good publication profile after their names. Professor Dr. Mohit Ul Alam, the Ex-VC of Jatiyo Kobi Kobi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, (Retired from Chittagong University and ULAB), is working in  DELL as the Professor of English and the  Dean of Arts and Social Sciences.
