M.A. in English (Major in El or Major in TESOL)

Pre-Requisite Courses – 18 Credits 

Duration- 01 Semester 

(For students with 4 years of Bachelor’s degree from disciplines other than English) 

  • ENG 5112: Advanced English Grammar
  • ENG 5325: History of English Literature
  • ENG 5328: History of Western Ideas
  • ENG 5429: Introduction to Poetry, Rhetoric and Prosody 
  • ENG 5430: Introduction to Prose and Drama
  • ENG 5214: Fundamentals of Linguistics

Students with 3 years of Bachelor degree in English or any discipline other than English have to complete minimum ten pre-requisite courses (30 credit hours) in one year to adjust their 3-year Bachelor degree to 4-year Bachelor degree before joining the mainstream program. 

(For students with 3 years of Bachelor degree from both English and disciplines other than English)

  • ENG 5216: Fundamentals of English Language Teaching

  • Students who will major in English Literature in MA in English (Taught Course) program will choose 7 courses as major from the English Literature courses. 

 

  • Students who will major in English Literature in MA in English (Taught Course and Thesis) program will choose 5 courses as major from the English Literature courses. 

 

Major in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL)

  • Students who will major in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) in MA in English (Taught Course) program will choose 7 courses as major from the Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) courses. 
  • Students who will major in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) in MA in English (Taught Course and Thesis) program will choose 5 courses as major from the Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) courses.
