Formerly, Vice-Chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Trishal, Mymensingh, and formerly Dean of Arts and Humanities as well as Professor and Head of the Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), and Professor of English, Department of English, University of Chittagong, he has more than fifty- books to his credit – short-stories, novels, poetry, essays, translation, travelogues and non-fiction, and books on the teaching of English, besides a huge body of columns published in leading Bangla and English dailies addressing current issues.
An action-based pragmatic person with high-level academic pursuits, Prof Alam has left his inspiring and motivational signature in every position that he has so far held. He believes in community-based development, improving human resource management, and urging others to do their best to his/her ability to serve an institution.
So far besides his academic engagements, Prof Alam has also shone in performing administrative and managerial responsibilities. Whether as chairman of the Department of English, CU, or as the founding chairman of the Department of English Language and Literature (DELL) of Premier University, Chittagong, or as the Head and Dean at ULAB, and finally as the VC of JKKNIU, everywhere he helped the institute to grow with his pragmatic and visionary thinking. Presently, coming back to Chattogram he has again joined Premier University as a professor of English in the Department of English Language and Literature (DELL) and also as the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Premier Critical Perspective, Premier University, Chattoagram: So far three articles have been published in three volumes: “Shakespeare: Page and Stage,” “Tears Perchance Blood: A Study of Hamlet,” “The Tragic Death of Bangabandhu: Analyzed through a Shakespearean Trajectory,” and in Ideas: An International Journal published by City University, Dhaka: As many as four articles have been published, the latest one being: “The Heart is the Mouth: Traitorism versus Patriotism in Coriolanus; and in the Notre Dame University Journal titled Critical Insights two articles have been published: “The Equivocal Language of Macbeth,” and “A Study to show Lear more as a father than a king.”
